Proposal
In a significant project for my technical writing class, our group was tasked with developing a project proposal. Our proposal was entitled "Ethical Navigation: A Study to Enhance UCF’s Computer Science Curriculum for Responsible AI and Social Media Algorithm Development." This group project aimed to address the gap in ethical training within the University of Central Florida's computer science program, particularly in the realms of AI and social media algorithms. Working in a group brought a unique set of challenges and learning experiences. One of the key lessons was the importance of effective communication and collaboration. Each team member brought different skills and perspectives to the table, which enriched our project. We had to learn to balance and integrate these diverse viewpoints to create a cohesive and comprehensive proposal. Regular meetings, clear division of responsibilities, and open lines of communication were crucial in this process. We also learned to give and receive constructive feedback, which was instrumental in refining our proposal. Another significant aspect of this assignment was learning the value of interdisciplinary research. Our proposal didn’t just involve computer science; it also delved into ethics, education, and social implications. This broadened our understanding and appreciation of how different fields intersect and influence each other, especially in the context of technology and society. Furthermore, the assignment enhanced our project management skills. We had to plan and execute the project in stages, from initial research to drafting the proposal. This included tasks like conducting a comprehensive curriculum review, surveying faculty and students, and interviewing industry professionals. Managing these diverse tasks within a given timeframe honed our ability to work efficiently and stay organized. In conclusion, this group project was not only about developing a strong proposal but also about the invaluable skills we gained in the process. It taught us the importance of teamwork, interdisciplinary research, and effective project management. These skills are essential in any professional setting and will undoubtedly aid us in our future endeavors.
